KTM RC 160 Confirmed: KTM India has officially confirmed the launch of the much-anticipated KTM RC 160, a fully-faired sportbike based on the recently introduced KTM 160 Duke. The motorcycle is expected to make its debut by September 2025, adding a new entry point to KTM’s supersport lineup.

From Street to Supersport

The KTM RC 160 will be the sportier, track-inspired sibling of the KTM 160 Duke, which was launched earlier at ₹1.85 lakh (ex-showroom). Serving as the new entry-level model in the Duke range, the 160 Duke has replaced the KTM 125 Duke, which was officially discontinued in March 2025.

KTM India hinted that the RC 160 will arrive “within a matter of a few weeks if not months” following the 160 Duke’s launch. Positioned below the KTM RC 200, the new model aims to attract young riders seeking aggressive styling and KTM’s trademark performance at a more accessible price point.

Engine & Performance

The RC 160 will be powered by the same 164.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC engine from the 160 Duke. This newly developed unit is derived from KTM’s first-generation platform that included the KTM 125 Duke.

  • Power Output: 18.7 bhp @ 9,500 rpm
  • Torque: 15.5 Nm @ 7,500 rpm
  • Bore x Stroke: 66 mm x 48 mm

The bike will feature ride-by-wire throttle and is expected to deliver lively acceleration suitable for city commuting and occasional spirited rides.

Chassis & Hardware

Built on KTM’s signature steel trellis frame, the RC 160 will share most of its hardware with the 160 Duke, including:

  • Suspension: WP Apex USD front forks & WP monoshock rear
  • Brakes: 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc, both with ByBre calipers
  • Tyres: 110-section front and 140-section rear tubeless tyres
  • Wheels: 17-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels
  • Safety: Supermoto ABS mode for added cornering control

Design Differences

While the Duke wears a naked streetfighter design, the RC 160 will sport a full fairing to emphasise its supersport DNA. Expect sharper lines, an aerodynamic front cowl, and clip-on handlebars to provide a more committed riding stance.

Due to the added bodywork, the RC 160 will likely weigh slightly more than the Duke, but KTM’s focus on lightweight engineering means it should still deliver agile handling.

Features & Tech

The RC 160 is expected to feature the same 5-inch LCD instrument console as the Duke, offering:

  • Smartphone connectivity
  • Turn-by-turn navigation
  • Call and music control integration

Positioning in KTM’s Line-Up

The RC 160 will sit below the RC 200, offering KTM fans a more affordable entry into the brand’s supersport category without compromising on premium components and technology.

With the festive season approaching, KTM’s plan to launch the RC 160 by September 2025 could boost sales and give enthusiasts another reason to visit showrooms.
