Jaecoo E5 Electric SUV: Chinese automaker Jaecoo has officially confirmed that its all-electric E5 SUV will arrive in the UK this October, with prices starting from £27,505. Positioned to take on rivals such as the Peugeot e-2008, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Kia EV3, the E5 promises competitive range, strong performance, and attractive pricing.

Jaecoo E5 Performance and Range

The E5 is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 204bhp and 212lb ft of torque. This setup enables a 0–62mph time of 7.7 seconds. Energy comes from a 61.1kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery, delivering a WLTP range of up to 248 miles on a single charge.

DC fast charging at up to 80kW allows the battery to be replenished from 30% to 80% in just 27 minutes. The SUV also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, enabling owners to power external devices directly from the car’s battery.

Design and Interior Features

Visually, the E5 distinguishes itself from its petrol-powered Jaecoo 5 sibling by replacing the traditional front grille with smooth aerodynamic panels. This design choice not only modernises the look but also improves airflow.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with a 13.2-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV offers seating for five and a boot capacity of 480 litres, which expands to 1180 litres with the rear seats folded.

Trim Levels and Equipment

The E5 will be offered in two trims:

  • Pure — Priced from £27,505, this entry-level version includes a six-speaker Sony sound system and manually adjustable front seats.
  • Luxury — Starting at £30,505, this variant adds an eight-speaker Sony audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and heated and ventilated front seats with electric adjustment.

Warranty and Market Position

Jaecoo is backing the E5 with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, aiming to reassure buyers in the highly competitive electric SUV segment.

With its blend of solid range, rapid charging, modern styling, and keen pricing, the E5 is poised to be a compelling alternative for UK buyers looking to transition to an electric SUV without breaking the bank.
